Solas: A Contemporary Twist on Traditional Irish Music
Only together for ten years, Solas has already garnered international praise for their ability to blend contemporary influences with traditional Irish music. Solas’ striking sound combines notably Celtic stylings with folk and country melodies, bluesy sometimes jazz-inspired improvisations and global rhythms. Join local radio host and Irish music enthusiast, Mark Cantor and founding members Seamus Egan and Winifred Horan to discuss and demonstrate current trends in Irish music, including Solas’ approach to time honored Celtic Traditions.

An Introduction to Hip Hop Dancing-An Introduction to Hip Hop Dancing with NOiZ Dance Crew
Utah native, Ro Malaga, has been dancing for years- most notably as the principal dancer in the High School Musical films- and recently started NOiZ, a hip hop dance crew, with other dancers in the community. This interactive workshop will feature NOiZ members who will give a brief history of hip hop dance culture and take the crowd step by step through a short dance with both classic and current moves.

The All Stars have become an international sensation, spreading their extraordinary story and inspiring music across the globe. The Workshop Stage provides an opportunity to learn more about their amazing story first-hand discussion.

The Sahaja Meditation Experience
Meditation has been practiced for centuries but only recently has it gained significant popularity in Western culture because of its reputation as a stress reducer. Namit Seth and Pankaj Shinde have been practicing meditation for 18 years and will share their knowledge and experience with Sahaja Meditation at the Workshop Stage. Learn about the history of meditation, hear an explanation of chakras and participate in an applied meditative session.

Anastacio Castillo and the Rio Bravo Band: Tex- Mex Music in Utah
Anastacio and Elisa Castillo have been performing Tex-Mex music in Utah for over thirty years. Husband and wife perform songs that have been handed down for generations (as well as songs with Mexican roots). The duo will share the roots of this music, discuss composers and influences and perform some of their signature music. Folklorist Mike Christensen, from the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, will also be present to share his expertise and add to the conversation.
