City Seeking Applications for Energy Efficiency Funding
Program encourages equipment upgrades, building retrofits
SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City’s Community & Economic Development Department, in partnership with the Division of Sustainability, is accepting applications from local businesses for the Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan Fund (e2 RLF).
The e2 RLF works in conjunction with incentive and rebate programs from Rocky Mountain Power and Questar Gas to provide Salt Lake City business owners with low-interest loans between $5,000–$35,000 to fund energy efficient equipment upgrades and building retrofits. The program is designed to be virtually cash flow neutral, as loan funds are paid back with the savings created by the efficiency upgrades. The e2 RLF is an easy and cost-effective way to help businesses reduce their energy usage, cut down on their carbon emissions and—most importantly—positively impact their economic bottom lines.
Businesses must be for-profit and in operation for a minimum of two years to be eligible. Potential projects include lighting and HVAC system upgrades, energy efficient restaurant equipment (ovens, refrigerators, etc.) purchases, programmable thermostat and occupancy sensor installations and many others. Preference will be given to energy saving projects over renewable energy projects.
Applicants can pursue energy saving projects that are included in any of four utility company programs: 1) Rocky Mountain Power FinAnswer Express; 2) Rocky Mountain Power FinAnswer; 3) Questar Thermwise Business Rebates; or 4) Questar Thermwise Custom Business Rebates.
