City Seeks Volunteers for May Projects
SALT LAKE CITY – Summer is nearly here and with it comes festival season, a favorite time of year for Salt Lake City residents and visitors alike. Outdoor projects in and around City parks and public lands are also being scheduled daily and many rely on volunteers to help beautify and improve the community. May Opportunities

5/18: Wasatch Hollow Open Space Community Cleanup

One thing that makes SLC a great place to live, work, play and do business is the abundance of trees, parks and open space. Join your neighbors for a cleanup from 8–10:30 a.m. this Saturday. Meet at the parking area at 1630 East 1700 South. All ages welcome, no RSVP needed.

5/19: Living Traditions Festival

5 volunteers still needed for each shift

It’s time again for Living Traditions and there are great opportunities to check out this fun event from behind the scenes. Join the team on Sunday, May 19 for stage or info booth help, beverages sales or clean up. Available shifts include 9 a.m.–noon, noon–3, 3–6 p.m. and 6–9 p.m. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. Leave a message for Jacoby at 801-535-6513 and he will confirm your RSVP. Volunteers receive free beverage coupons and credit towards merchandise.

5/30: CommUNITY Fair

Volunteers are an important part of the CommUNITY fair. Help out with raffles, children's games, art projects and much more on May 30 between 4 and 8 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, contact 801-535-6553 or

5/18: Rose Park Community Festival

Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks at this fun community event. Help direct runners in the 5K, set-up for the festival, or direct vendors and visitors. 5/18: Build a Community Garden

The Vegetable Mining Operation, a Parks for Produce Community Garden, is putting down roots on Saturday, May 18 at 8 a.m. Meet at Hillsdale Park located at 3275 South 3200 West to join in the fun building and filling garden boxes and implementing the garden design. No RSVP needed.

5/30: Wasatch Weed Group Community Pull

This group is focused on eradicating invasive species around the Natural History Museum and Red Butte Garden and doing a great job. Volunteers can join them on May 30 from 1–4 p.m. to help in the Red Butte drainage. Contact or 801-587-9951 to sign up.

6/1: National Trails Day with Cottonwood Canyons Foundation

100 volunteers are needed for vigorous work on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Light breakfast and lunch are provided and the project runs from 7:30 a.m.–noon. RSVPs are required. To sign up, contact or 801-466-6411.
