On December 1, 2009 , the Salt Lake City Council joined Mayor Becker along with the Utah AIDS Foundation and the People with AIDS Coalition of Utah on the west steps of the City & County Building for a special World AIDS Day recognition at 6 pm.  Following at 7:00 pm during the formal portion of the Council meeting, a joint resolution by Mayor Becker and the Salt Lake City Council recognizing December 1, 2009 as World AIDS Day was adopted by the City Council.

A moment of silence takes place during a unified bell-ringing tribute
in memory of those who have lost their lives to HIV/AIDS and
individuals who are affected by the disease.

 

The community joins the recognition of World AIDS Day by participating in a candle vigil.

Community supports the Worlds AIDS Day recognition as they remember
and support their loved ones who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
