Mayor to Help Launch City Envisioning Effort
SALT LAKE CITY – Mayor Ralph Becker and the City Planning Division invite media representatives to a press event announcing the launch of a new City envisioning effort, Plan Salt Lake, on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the Share Room of the Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 South.
The Plan Salt Lake project will create a roadmap over the next year, guided by and for City residents and business owners, to help inform decisions for Salt Lake City’s future activities.

“Public input and participation are the very cornerstones of our City planning efforts,” said Mayor Becker. “We look forward to hearing from our residents and those who operate businesses in Salt Lake City. Their ideas will form the core of the Plan Salt Lake envisioning effort.”

The City Planning Division is currently reaching out to the public to gather ideas to include in Plan Salt Lake. Over the next two months, the division will be conducting public workshops, meeting with a variety of community groups and attending events citywide to bring as many people as possible into the process.

Tuesday’s event will include a demonstration of the public participation exercises, displays of comments heard during last summer’s visioning exercises and comments from Mayor Becker, Community and Economic Development Director Eric Shaw and Planning Division Director Wilf Sommerkorn.
