Mayors to Rally for Annual Bike To Work Ride

SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams will lead a group of commuter bicyclists to the Salt Lake County Government Center and Salt Lake City & County Building in celebration of the annual Mayors’ Bike to Work Day on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:30 a.m. beginning at Liberty Park, near the 900 South entrance between 500 and 700 East.

The yearly ride helps kick-off the statewide Bike Month of May and is a reminder that commuting by bicycle has never been easier thanks to new and ongoing improvements around the City and across the County.

“This is one of my favorite events and one that grows every year as more and more residents choose bikes as the best way to get back and forth to work,” said Mayor Becker. “Another great way to celebrate Bike Month and our Year of the Bike effort with our County partners.”

Snacks and beverages will be provided at stops both at the County offices, scheduled for approximately 8 a.m. and the Salt Lake City & County Building at about 8:30 a.m.

"Biking to work can save you money, make you healthier and contribute to better air quality," said Mayor McAdams. "Tomorrow's event is one way to get people thinking about making a change in their routines and start enjoying those benefits."

The public is invited to join the mayors and employees from city and county governments on this escorted ride. For further details and a route map, visit
