Medical device manufacturer Biomerics to headquarter in Salt Lake City

Biomerics, a leading medical device manufacturer for the cardiovascular market, will relocate to a new corporate headquarters in Salt Lake City. The 230,000-square foot facility will be located adjacent to the Northwest Quadrant west of the Salt Lake City International Airport. The new facility will include corporate and engineering offices, research and development labs, and cleanroom manufacturing.

“Biomerics has seen incredible growth over the last few years, which has encouraged us to look more strategically at how we do business in Salt Lake City,” said Travis Sessions, company CEO. “This new facility will enable us to better serve our customers, expand our current resources, and invest in new opportunities.”

In a great example of excellent customer service, Salt Lake City’s Department of Economic Development team assisted Biomerics in the project by making sure all of their questions were answered and connecting them to the necessary incentives and funding options through the state. The headquarters is scheduled to be completed in mid-2018 and will accommodate up to 600 employees. This project will be a $38.5 million investment over the next eight years and is expected to add more than 380 new jobs.

“Biomerics is an excellent addition to Salt Lake City and our growing life sciences sector,” said Mayor Jackie Biskupski. “Biomerics is at the cutting edge of technology in their field of work. They have pride in the footprint they leave in their community and with their employees. It is those values that make this company a perfect fit for the City, and our business development team will continue to work closely with the company during their transition in Salt Lake City.”

In speaking about this investment, Craig McCaffrey, President of the Biomerics Salt Lake division, said the decision to be in Salt Lake City was a clear and obvious one.

“Salt Lake City is an excellent business corridor to other cities on the west coast and other international cities. It is a business-friendly climate that offers a quality of life that benefits the company and its employees,” McCaffrey said. “This new facility will enhance our capabilities as a medical device manufacturer. It also demonstrates our commitment to community and the progression of where we live, work, and play.”
