Summary of the August 13 City Council Meeting

Parks, Trails and Open Space Bond Initiative

The Council discussed a proposed Parks, Trails and Open Space Bond initiative, which would be used to pay for more outdoor recreational opportunities in the City – including converting some current open spaces into new uses, adding trail improvements and connections. If approved by the Council, the bond will be placed on the November ballot. The Council took a straw poll on the option of a $99 million bond, which failed. The Council plans to continue its discussion on the bond at its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, August 18, when it will officially decide whether to put the bond decision to voters by placing it on the November ballot. The Council will hold a final Public Hearing on the proposal that night. Read more.
