Summary of the June 9 City Council Meeting


At Tuesday’s meeting, the Council continued to discuss details of Mayor Ralph Becker’s proposed Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget. Discussion centered on department budgets and specific line items the Council is interested in, including: 

  • Police funding, including funding for additional bike patrol positions and case workers;
  • restructuring funds to include watering along the Bonneville Golf Course perimeter for trees and some grasses;
  • funding to replace trees that die or are removed throughout the City; and more.

The Council held and closed its budget public hearing, at which one person spoke. The Council is preparing to adopt the budget next week. Read more about the budget.

Police Grant Resolution

The Council adopted a resolution stating that the City should apply for a federal grant to partially fund up to 15 additional police officers. Read more;

The Council also:

  • adopted Budget Amendment No. 4 for Fiscal Year 2014-15. Read more;
