Salt Lake City's transportation team is now recruiting volunteers for the 4th annual bike count. Shifts last just 1-2 hours and entail counting bicyclists at various intersections throughout the city. Weekday (Tues.-Thurs.) shifts take place between 5 and 7 p.m. and weekend (Sat. and Sun.) shifts run from noon to 2 p.m. No cycling experience necessary! Sign up online at

Fall Fruit Harvest
Each year, locally grown fruit goes uneaten and falls into streets and yards. As part of an initiative to reduce food waste, the City has partnered with TreeUtah, Green Urban Lunchbox, Avenues Fruitshare and Salt Lake CAP. Volunteers help harvest, diverting portions of the collected fruit to the homeowner, local food pantries and their own kitchens. Harvest events are held on Tuesday mornings and evenings, throughout the weekend, and are also available as a group activity. Interested volunteers should add their names to the Fruit Share program volunteer list at
