Salt Lake City advises residents of wintertime curbside compost collection suspension

Temporary suspension saves fuel and emissions during period of extremely low demand
 

Salt Lake City is reminding residents of the six-week suspension of compost can collection beginning the week of January 22.

Each winter, the City temporarily suspends collection of the brown yard waste containers during a period of very low use, in order to save fuel costs and reduce air pollution during wintertime inversion weeks.

SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City Green announces a series of Saturday electronic waste (e-waste) recycling events that will be held each month, from May through August. The events are sponsored by Samsung and will accept a wide variety of electronics from city and county residents. Business waste will not be accepted.

SALT LAKE CITY – Community leaders will gather at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 for the grand opening of the new Momentum Recycling clean glass recycling facility at 658 S. 4050 West. The new facility will dramatically increase the glass recycling capacity in Salt Lake City and help reduce landfill waste.
