Salt Lake City joins 31 jurisdictions in SCOTUS amicus brief supporting transgender students and Title IX

Today, Mayor Biskupski announced Salt Lake City was joining 31 other jurisdictions in an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in support of transgender students’ right to be free from discrimination at school, including the right to use restrooms and other sex-segregated facilities consistent with their gender identity. The brief was prepared by San Francisco and New York City, and was joined by Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, and two-dozen other cities, counties, and mayors.


Salt Lake City joins 20 cities in brief to Supreme Court on prolonged detention of immigrants by federal government

Today, Mayor Jackie Biskupski announced that Salt Lake City joined 20 cities and counties across the nation, in an amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court, asking the Court to uphold important constitutional protections for immigrants held in prolonged mandatory immigration detention by the federal government.
